Notes on the preparation of final theses

The application for Bachelor's and Masters theses is centralised via the Faculty of Economics.

.

On acceptance at the chair, you will be assigned a supervisor with whom the exact topic is to be agreed directly.

When selecting students to write a final thesis at our chair, it is important to us that the students are familiar with the content we represent. Therefore, we base the selection of students - if there is a higher demand for thesis supervision than the available supervision capacity - on the scope and performance in the modules that have already been completed at our chair.

• New Forms of Work and Organisation
• Leadership and Organisation
• Organisational Culture and Control
• Diversity and Organisation
• Technology, Work and Management
• Corporate social responsibility and business ethics
• Secrecy and transparency
• Organisation and violence
• Stigma and work
• Space and organisation
• Body and organisation

The focus  of the final theses is on scientific work, not on application orientation. For dissertations, we recommend a literature-based thesis due to the processing time and scope. For masters theses, we encourage students to conduct empirical work based on qualitative methods of organisational and management research.

In principle, you are welcome to propose your own topics, but they must be within the scope of the chair's research interests and research focus. Please contact the chair in good time in this regard.

Final theses can be written in German or English.

Attendance at colloquia is compulsory for all students writing their bachelor's or masters thesis at our chair. One colloquium is held per block. Bachelor's students are required to attend the colloquium of the block in which they have been assigned to supervise. Master's students are required to take part in both colloquia.

You will be informed of the dates in good time by email.

Working times

The processing of bachelor dissertations begins either in the 1st or 2nd block of the semester. If you are accepted as a supervisor, you will be allocated to one of the blocks. Both start dates allow you to complete your work in the respective semester. The processing time for a dissertation is 10 weeks after registration.

The processing of Masters theses always begins in the 1st block of the respective semester. The processing time for a masters thesis is 16 weeks after registration.

Please apply for the registration form for admission to the final thesis at the Examinations Office and bring it with you to the first colloquium.

Submission

Your thesis must be submitted to the Examination Office in bound duplicate by the deadline at the end of the processing period.
The last page of the thesis is the declaration of independence.
In addition, a data carrier (CD/DVD/USB) with the thesis in electronic form (.doc(x), .pdf) must be enclosed.
