Information about examination de-/registration

All students who wish to participate at exams will have to register in time! Students without any prior registration will be exempted from exams! There won’t be any exceptions!

In case of academic leave (Beurlaubung), you do not have the right to undertake any examinations at the European University Viadrina.

There will be one binding period to register for all exams (end of first term, end of second term, retake dates) of this given period respectively.

Registration for exams

The registration for exams is done via viaCampus in time (see right-hand box). For a charge of five Euros the registration can also be processed by the examination office ("Prüfungsamt") within the deadlines. In case you experience problems with your examination registration, please always contact the examination office ("Prüfungsamt").

After the deadline, students will not be able to register anymore. No exceptions are made!

Students who wish to pass exams within the law on the protection of expectant and nursing mothers, need to make a written declaration to the examination board about their ability and willingness to participate at an exam (next to the usual registration via viaCampus). The inability to participate at an exam can be revoked at any time before the start of the exam. Then, the examination board requires a medical bill about the beginning of the maternity protection law.

Deregistration from exams

Due to the current corona situation, the responsible examination boards of the faculty, in coordination with the university leadership, have decided to set the withdrawal deadlines in the HIS-Portal / viaCampus to one day before the examination date, so that students registered for an examination have the opportunity to withdraw from the examination independently via the system until 23:59 pm one day before the examination without further requests or notification.

After the fixed withdrawal deadlines have expired, withdrawal is only possible with good reason after written explanation (see application form for withdrawal) to the examination board. Currently, this declaration of withdrawal is also possible informally. In consideration of the current risk situation posed by the corona virus, an informal declaration of withdrawal by the students will be recognised as a valid reason even after the withdrawal period has expired if students registered for an examination report symptoms of illness (without the need to present a health insurance certificate) or concern about infection (or comparable reasons), for example. In these cases, withdrawal from the examination is without sanction and is also recognised as withdrawal by the responsible examination board after the fixed deadline has expired and is recorded accordingly in the system. Otherwise, the missed examination will be considered a failed attempt. The informal declaration of withdrawal after the cancellation deadline should be sent immediately by email to exam-wiwi@europa-uni.de.

You can deregister from exams in time (see right-hand box). The deregistration is free of charge if it is done the viaCampus. For a charge of five Euros the deregistration can also be processed by the examination office ("Prüfungsamt") within the deadlines. In case you experience problems with your examination deregistration, please always contact the examination office ("Prüfungsamt").

In case you have to deregister for an exam after the deadline, the only way to resign is in case of illness. Students are obligated to hand in a medical certificate with the examination board ("Prüfungsausschuss") immediately after the decision not to participate. Otherwise the missed exam is counted as pass fail. Please note that the medical certificate needs to prove an inability to participate at the exam!
