Prerequisites: Students writing our going to write their final thesis within the next semesters.
Spots are limited to 20 students. To get enrolled, it is necessary to apply for participation after the introductory session via Moodle, including your transcript of records and a motivation letter. For further information, please visit the introductory session.

Aim of the module (expected learning outcomes and competencies to be acquired):
Students learn about the principles, methods and skills of scientific work on an advanced level and apply this knowledge within group exercises. The aim is also to prepare/ guide students for/through writing their own scientific papers and to familiarize them with the necessary skills.

Contents of the module:
Strategies for scientific work (e.g., literature research and editing) will be presented and practiced in preparation for writing one's own scientific papers. Advanced techniques for scientific writing will be taught and applied. Students will develop, present and interactively discuss exemplary small texts and outlines.

Teaching and learning methods:
Interactive seminar with knowledge input, discussion questions and group exercises, self-study is based on individual and group assignments

Literature (compulsory reading, recommended literature):
Relevant journal articles, which will be made available on Moodle.

Students accepted to write their final thesis at our chair are automatically enrolled into the course and do not need to apply. For those students the active participation within the course is mandatory, regardless if the course is credited or not.
Attendance is mandatory, students can miss a max. of 3 sessions
