Institute Accounting & Taxation

We deal with issues of business taxation, financial and management accounting.

The dual degree programmes in Wirtschaftsprüfung and, from 2025, Business Taxation are based here. In the full-time degree programmes Internationale Betriebswirtschaftslehre and International Business Administration, we offer 3 foundation courses in the Bachelor's degree and the specialisations Taxation and Accounting in the Bachelor's and Master's degree. All students can choose from a wide range of courses in business taxation, tax law, financial accounting and management accounting.

VHB Conference (Association of University Professors of Business Administration) in Göttingen

The VHB conference (Verband der Hochschullehrerinnen und Hochschullehrer für Betriebswirtschaft e.V.) took place in Göttingen from 18 to 20 March 2025. Michael Kolodziej and Dr Miriam Maske from the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at the European University Viadrina were there.

New publication in trade journal KoR. IFRS: International and capital market orientated accounting

Oliver Beyhs, Bernhard Hirsch and Miriam Maske have published an article on the new P&L structure under IFRS 18 in KoR - Zeitschrift für internationale und kapitalmarktorientierte Rechnungslegung.

Lecture at the Brown Bag Seminar "Accounting, Finance and Taxation" at the University of Passau

At the invitation of Prof. Dr Markus Diller, Prof. Dr Drahomir Klimsa presented his working paper "How (Not) to Tax Sunshine: Investment Responses to Tax Compliance Costs on Non-Commercial Rooftop Photovoltaic Systems" (together with Sofie Luitz, Mario Rieger and Robert Ullmann) to professors and doctoral students from the field of Accounting, Finance and Taxation on 20 January 2026.

Panel discussion on the topic of managers and ethics

Board members and managers not only bear economic responsibility - their decisions also shape corporate culture, social trust and the handling of compliance and integrity. In the DICO Talk at Bilfinger Berger, Prof Dr Sonja Wüstemann, as a representative of university education, together with experienced practitioners and experts, will shed light on how ethical skills can be taught, promoted and anchored in management practice.
