Bachelor and master theses
Prerequisites for a (BA/MA) thesis
It is highly recommended to attend our modules.
Our seminars provide an insight into academic writing for bachelor students.
- Bachelor Seminar in Applied Economics: Hands-on Happiness and Discrimination (SS 2020)
- Master Seminar in Applied Economics: Hands-on Happiness and Discrimination (SS 2020)
- Bachelor Seminar in Applied Economics: To Be Announced (WS 2020/2021)
If you decide to write the thesis at our chair, first you need to hand in the application for supervision of the thesis to the examination board of the Faculty of Economic Sciences. This application must be submitted via Moodle. The application deadlines are September 15th for the winter semester and March 15th for the summer semester.
Further information can be found on the website of the examination board.
Formal requirements for seminar, bachelor and master theses can be found in our Guidelines for Academic Writing (2023-03-08).
A short guide on scientific writing
You will find introductory information and general hints on the preparation of papers/theses and good literature for the research on the ZBW website (GER).
(Please note: This is general information. Chair-specific information and instructions have priority).
Hints for choosing a topic and a supervisor
The chair encourages students to choose their own topic and elaborate an idea on their own. The topic and the question are discussed in an introductory consultation with the supervisor. All theses must be related to the main focus of our chair:
- Applied Microeconomics
- Applied Econometrics
- International Economics
- Labour Market Economics
