Since 2012 Prof. Schmid is the Chairman of the German Statistical Society
Since 2016 Prof. Schmid is Vice-Chairman of the German Consortium in Statistics (DAGStat)
Prof. Schmid is co-editor in the following journals:
From 2009 till 2013 Prof. Schmid was the Chairman of the "Working Group for Stochastic Models in Reliability, Quality and Safety"
Since 1996 Prof. Schmid is the President of the Doctoral Committee of the Economic Faculty of the European University Viadrina Frankfurt(Oder)
Since 2011Prof. Schmid is the chair of the Scholarship Award Commission of the European University Viadrina
Since September 2015 Prof. Schmid is the liaison lecturer of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation
