Anticipatory production control for roller mills
In this project the scheduling of production lots in a roller mill are analyzed and improved. The production process is characterized by highly volatile processing times and limited possibilities of buffering products between different production steps. A simulation-based optimization approach using variable neighborhood search (VNS) is applied to determine production sequences which minimize total production costs.
